Tom is our Housing Development Manager, managing the business development pipeline, leading technical assistance projects, and supporting asset management and financial feasibility matters. A lawyer by trade, Tom is a 2015 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, the District of Columbia, and Florida.
The Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) is the state’s first regional housing finance agency. The Kelsey joined as a member of the BAHFA Equity Working Group, convened by UC Berkeley’s Othering & Belonging Institute, with the working group establishing an Equity Framework to serve as the foundation of the BAHFA Business.
Katie is the Housing Development Manager at The Kelsey. Katie has over a decade of experience working in affordable housing, primarily leading initiatives to support low-income homeowners safely and sustainably age in place.
Hunter Herrera-McFarland is our Policy Manager. Hunter is Navajo and Mescalero Apache on her mom’s side and white on her dad’s side. She grew up in a rural town in Southern Idaho, but now lives in Bellingham, Washington with her partner, Carter, and her service dog, Diya.
This month, we are thrilled to feature Fiona Ruddy of Mercy Housing California, our beloved partner and co-developer of The Kelsey Civic Center. Fiona comes from a public health background with a deep passion for overall wellness and environmental sustainability. Her chosen element, Flooring Materials, highlights the health benefits of hard surfaces for flooring rather than carpet. Along with better health outcomes, this element boosts better design choices for disability-forward housing communities. She articulates the dual benefits saying “In addition to the health benefits for children and immunocompromised people, hard surface flooring is a practical, durable design choice.”
