The Kelsey Ayer Station: Site Development Permit Submitted

Rendering of The Kelsey Ayer Station

We are thrilled to announce that last week we submitted our Site Development Permit for The Kelsey Ayer Station. This is a major milestone in our journey towards a fully inclusive community.

The Kelsey Ayer Station will create 115 homes in an inclusive community — contributing a total of 89 homes to San Jose’s affordable housing stock. 28 homes will be reserved for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with 20 of those units priced for individuals relying solely on SSI as their income.

We’ve worked with our team of architects to design the building to match the existing architectural character of the neighborhood, and also embrace the principles of universal design to create a space that is accessible and welcoming to all people of all abilities. The front porch might be one of our favorite features. We can already picture residents greeting each other and having coffee outside on sunny San Jose mornings. Our ground level program includes a community kitchen and lounge which will be open to the community during business hours and promote an active street front. Walkable to downtown and 500 feet from the light rail, The Kelsey Ayer Station is designed to encourage a walkable, transit-oriented, and bicycle-friendly community. We are excited to have our first site so close to everything that the city and region have to offer and will begin community programs this summer to begin to promote inclusive community near our first project.
