About Sam

As Managing Director, Sam leads The Kelsey’s housing development pipeline, partnerships, and strategy. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Y2Y Harvard Square and Y2Y New Haven, the nation’s first two student-run homeless shelters for young adults. He has also financed, designed, and implemented a variety of affordable housing and homelessness programs and initiatives.

Sam has an MBA from Stanford, MPA from UC Berkeley, and a BA from Harvard. He lives in San Francisco.

What part of The Kelsey’s mission are you proudest to be part of / support?

I am proud to be part of a team of people with and without disabilities working to create housing that is more accessible, affordable, and responsive to the needs and preferences of the people who live in it.

What does it mean to you to be Disability-Forward? Why does it matter?

To me, being Disability-Forward means treating accessibility as an opportunity for creativity and inclusivity, not as a box to check or risk to mitigate. It means that we take it as an imperative that everyone has access to affordable, beautiful homes that meet their needs, regardless of ability status. And that we center the needs and preferences of current and prospective residents in the design, operations, and programming of our communities.
