Transforming the Housing Field, Together: Women’s Development Collaborative Tours The Kelsey Civic Center

We had the pleasure of hosting the Women’s Development Collaborative (WDC)—a powerful network supporting women who lead transformative real estate—for a firsthand look at disability-forward housing in action at The Kelsey Civic Center.

Louisa, our Senior Project Manager of Real Estate, and Fiona Ruddy, Real Estate Development Project Manager at our codeveloper organization, Mercy Housing California, toured members through the community and presented on its development process.

Members were given an inside look at the building’s disability-forward design features, creative funding model, and how underutilized land in the heart of San Francisco was used to build a deeply affordable, accessible, and inclusive community. Esther, a member of our Inclusion Concierge team, also joined the group to present about our Resident Services model and how she supports residents with and without disabilities in her role.

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to connect with our field and share about the critical need for and value of disability-forward housing. Events like these allow us to learn from other developers and share our perspectives about how to build communities where everyone can thrive.

Thank you to the Women’s Development Collaborative for stopping by!

Members of the Women’s Development Collaborative, a diverse group of women in casual clothing, smile together for a photo in the courtyard at The Kelsey Civic Center, a modern apartment building. Windows, trees, and yellow walls are visible behind them. Some women stand while others kneel in front of them. Two of the women kneeling hold a small sign that reads, “Welcome!” with the Women’s Development Collaborative logo on it.
Members of the Women’s Development Collaborative standing on the balcony walkways of The Kelsey Civic Center, a modern, multi-story apartment building. On the middle floor, several members talk near a bright blue balcony while a woman further down waves at the camera. The building has bright yellow, blue, and dark green painted balconies, with green plants hanging over the balcony railings.
Members of the Women’s Development Collaborative watch a presentation by Louisa, The Kelsey’s Senior Project Manager of Real Estate. Louisa, a white woman with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a brightly colored, leaf-patterned top and black pants, stands in front of a small community room and gestures as she presents. To her right, a slideshow about developing The Kelsey Civic Center is projected on the wall.
Members of the Women’s Development Collaborative pose on the roof of The Kelsey Civic Center with the dome of San Francisco City Hall in clear view behind them. They wear casual clothing, name tags, and some have sunglasses on. On the rooftop, they are surrounded by garden beds with various small green plants.
