Inclusive Design Standards in Use: Mitchell Park Place Opens Its Doors in Palo Alto, CA!

A picture of a modern multi-story apartment building at dusk, viewed from across a dark, empty street. The building features a contemporary architectural style with gray metal and warm wood-toned panels, and a flat, overhanging roofline. The sky above transitions from a deep twilight blue at the top to a warm orange glow near the horizon behind the building. Tree branches frame the very top of the image, and a few parked cars are visible on the far right.

We’re excited to celebrate the grand opening of Mitchell Park Place in Palo Alto, CA! Implementing the Inclusive Design Standards, this vibrant, mixed-use development brings 50 affordable homes to the community, including 25 homes set aside for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Designed by Architects Fora, one of our Committed Firms, and developed by Eden Housing, Mitchell Park Place proves that housing is better when accessibility is centered from the very beginning. At the community’s grand opening, guests received a pamphlet outlining how the Inclusive Design Standards were seamlessly incorporated into the building’s design, including design choices such as wayfinding, a fitness room, and a relaxation room for onsite staff. The community goes beyond code to create a more supportive living experience for residents with and without disabilities.

A huge congratulations to the team at Architects Fora, Eden Housing, and everyone who brought Mitchell Park Place to life!
