Our partners at David Baker Architects featured the Inclusive Design Standards in an article about designing their inclusive community, 8 Partridge Street. 8 Partridge was the first to become a gold-certified project of the Inclusive Design Standards, implementing more than 145 elements from them to ensure accessibility.
The article details the disability-forward elements incorporated into 8 Partridge’s design, including design choices informed by resident feedback, and explains that, in most cases, they did not incur additional costs. It highlights what’s possible with disability-forward housing: resident-centered, inclusive communities that push back on the narrative that housers and design teams have to choose between accessibility and affordability.
David Baker Architects is a committed firm actively championing the Inclusive Design Standards by putting them into practice and sharing them through their work. We’re grateful to partner with firms whose dedication to accessibility creates more inclusive homes and expands housing opportunities for everyone.
