The Kelsey featured in New York Amsterdam News

We were featured in the New York Amsterdam News!

The article highlights how we are filling a critical gap in housing by centering deep affordability, cross-disability access, inclusion, and equity in the development of our communities.

With a spotlight on The Kelsey Ayer Station in San Jose, the article includes an interview with one of our residents, Jake. He explains that the convenient access to public transit has made it significantly easier to connect with the surrounding community.

The article also features insights from our partners at Terner Labs—where we participated in their Housing Venture Lab—and CHInyc, both of whom emphasized the importance of scaling disability-forward housing nationwide. As Michelle Boyd, Chief Strategy Officer at Terner Labs, put it:

“They’ve [The Kelsey] really put a spotlight on the issue of accessible housing for people with disabilities for people who weren’t paying attention to it, and weren’t prioritizing [it], and have done that really effectively because of their leadership [and] their ability to frame their organization with a really strategic mission.”

We’re honored to have our mission recognized in this way and hope this coverage sparks further conversation—and action—toward a disabililtly-forward housing future.
