Taking Disability-Forward Housing to The Hill

We took our disability-forward housing mission to Capitol Hill.

During our visit, we met with Senate and House offices—including Senators Padilla, Britt, Schiff, Reed, and Blackburn, and Representatives Liccardo and Sewell—to advance policies that prioritize inclusive housing and protect the rights of people with disabilities.

Our advocacy highlighted calls for expanded tenant- and project-based rental assistance, LIHTC reforms to center accessibility, and the protection of Medicaid. We also advocated for full funding of Section 811 and Housing Choice Vouchers to ensure more people with disabilities can access stable, community-based housing.

Alongside these meetings, we attended rallies to defend Medicaid and participated in the National Housing Conference as a guest of our partners at JP Morgan Chase, continuing to elevate inclusive housing models as essential to our national housing strategy.

The systems we seek to change are complex, but our message is clear: disability-forward housing is essential infrastructure. As we approach the anniversaries of Olmstead and the ADA, we’re pushing for policies that reflect these civil rights commitments.
