State and Local Strategies to Expand Inclusive Housing for People with Disabilities: Webinar Recap

Alongside the National Council on Independent Living and New Disabled South, we co-hosted a conversation on proven state and local strategies to expand accessible, affordable, and inclusive housing for people with disabilities. Our speakers included Caroline Bas of the National Coalition for Elevator Reform, Rasheedah Phillips of PolicyLink, Parisa Ijadi-Maghsoodi of the National Housing Law Project, and our very own Hunter Herrera-McFarland.

Speakers explored how to advocate for state Qualified Allocation Plans (QAPs) that prioritize accessibility and inclusion, effective approaches for advocating to Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), and how to push for more disability-forward zoning and land-use reform. Speakers also highlighted local policies that strengthen tenant protections and stability for disabled renters.

The webinar offered practical steps and ideas to drive inclusive housing—despite ongoing federal challenges. We’re incredibly grateful to our speakers and partners for sharing their knowledge and leadership.
