Our friends at Enterprise joined us at The Kelsey Ayer Station in San Jose to experience disability-forward housing in action. Our CEO and co-founder, Micaela, and one of our residents, Darcy, talked with Enterprise about how our community is changing lives and creating a new standard for inclusive housing.
The article captures the driving force behind our work: the transformative impact of disability-forward design and the power of affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing. Interviews with Micaela and Darcy cover the backstory of our organization, how residents have made connections with each other in our communities, and how the use of the Inclusive Design Standards has created a better living experience for all residents. Micaela also shares that building a better housing future requires others to join us in creating disability-forward housing:
“I think our message to communities is that we all are talking about the crisis around housing and how that impacts folks at every level and every corner of our society. There’s only one way we can create a different future: If we make sure these kinds of communities exist everywhere.” – Micaela Connery, CEO & Co-founder, The Kelsey
We’re deeply grateful to Enterprise for being a steadfast partner and champion of disability-forward housing.
