Advancing Federal Protections: We Co-Authored a New Article for the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s 2026 Advocates’ Guide

A dark blue graphic with white text reads, “Advocacy Alert: The National Low Income Housing Coalition Releases Advocates’ Guide 2026.” A white graphic of a bullhorn is in the lower left corner of the image, and The Kelsey’s white, sun-shaped logo is in the lower right corner.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition has released its annual Advocates’ Guide for 2026, a comprehensive resource on affordable housing policies, research, and advocacy tools that support low-income people across the country.

Allie, our Managing Director, collaborated with our partners at Justice in Aging and the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (D.R.E.D.F) to co-author an article about federal housing protections for people with disabilities. The article explores the legal foundations for disability-forward housing — such as physical accessibility, reasonable accommodations, community integration, and civil rights enforcement — and offers clear strategies for advocates to urge their representatives to protect and expand these rights.

The Advocates’ Guide 2026 serves as a powerful resource, featuring other topics that inform our work, including articles on Section 811, Mainstream and Non-Elderly Disabled (NED) Vouchers, and Olmstead Implementation
